Love Not That Which Is Mine Poem by Dallas Carter

Love Not That Which Is Mine

Into the night shall it consume my soul
To lay to rest, my faith in whole
Lies that bind, no truth can hold
Seek not my heart, lest thou fate be sold

Shrouded in darkness, my hope is bitter
Confined to the cod breath of endless winter
Frost upon the ground, thine snowy litter
My sins shall sting like frostbite's blister

Yesterday's a kiss I shan't forget
But today's a twist I can't have yet
Tickle the sky once the sun has set
And the colors of day settle down to rest

The darkness shall appease me with a lover's caress
To quell the noise in my soul shall I confess
My pledge to an empty heart's loneliness
The silence that follows, pure and bliss
