Love Or Sanity Poem by Alyssa Lynn

Love Or Sanity

Cold wind blows as you try to listen to both your head and your heart. Your head telling you to let him go, your heart saying never ever. You clench tighter, just to attempt to continue the claim of your heart as your own. Oh but look how he tries to pry it out of your fingers using his lips. Now is the moment of choice, love or sanity. No one said it was an easy choice to make, no one made that false promise. But is he worth it? This boy of yours, the pitter patter of rain against the roof matches the rhythm of your over beating heart. Decisions, they can be so terrifying. So what’s your pick, love or sanity? Do you want to risk it all for five minutes in his arms or keep what’s still yours your head? If only it was easy to make such a choice, but tell me what’s easy? Love or sanity, feelings oh so overwhelming they make you struggle for breath, or the understanding to know you haven’t jumped off the edge. Love or sanity, love has no guarantees but then again we’re all willing to sacrifice our sanity for love aren’t we? After all just look at Romeo and Juliet.
