Why can’t I sleep
I just dream of you
In the darkest nights
Your eyes burn through

I want to lose you
But I can’t forget
The way you held my string
Then left emptiness

Friends is all we can be
That’s what you said
Then left me alone
Sad and dead

Tears have fallen over you
Fallen in vain
Smile on an empty shell
To cover the pain

How can you do this
And live each day
Holding my heart
Then throw it away

I don’t want to hate you
It shows I still care
It shows you my soul
Exposed and bare

I want you to know
You have no more significance
Because the opposite of love
Is indifference
