Love You Still Poem by Samantha White

Love You Still

Sitting in the moonlight with your arms around me,
keeping me safe and free from harm.
Your eyes shine with your deep love for me;
your hands hold mine to keep them warm.
You are my world and all I live for;
you make all of my fears completely disappear.
I have never had a feeling like this before,
never have I felt a love so sincere.
A single red rose you've given me,
there are no thorns to give me pain.
It's in your heart I'll always be;
never will I look at you with distain.
But soon one day this rose will wilt,
and our love will begin to slip away.
Destroyed will be the trust we had so carefully built,
our colored world will turn slowly gray.
A single black rose now lies unwanted,
the memory of a dark love remains.
By my past I'm relentlessly haunted,
Silent tears fall like quiet rain.
No longer am I free from thorns,
They've pierced my heart with pain.
Because of you my heart deeply mourns,
without you happiness I just can't obtain.
Day after day holding back tears,
I try to forget you but know I never will.
My silent cries of heartache no one hears,
you were my first love and I love you still.
