Lovely Secrets Poem by Margaret Shaw

Lovely Secrets

In a translation that cannot be described,
My heart yearns for more,
It is my greatest desire,
My unspoken desire.

The face of uncertainty stares at me,
Does it know my secret?
Can it hear my heart's longings?
This it will not tell.

The words dare not cross my lips,
None shall hear what I have not told,
Such unimaginable possibilities,
Possibilities not to be foretold.

Such a strange feeling,
None know, not even he,
I cannot tell those secrets,
Fate holds me tight within its hands.

Could this be just a dream I wish?
Or could reality bring it to pass?

Sounds stir around me,
My secret must remain safe,
I bury it safe,
Locking the key within my mind.

None shall know,
It is a dream,
A lovely dream to behold,
Yes, to behold.

Time shall pass...

On a clear day,
One where secrets can be told,
I may decide to tell him,
What my heart can no longer hold.
