Make Me An Eagle Poem by Paul Sebastian

Make Me An Eagle

Rating: 5.0

Born to fly, spread your wings and fly
Soar to the clouds high up in the sky
Play with the winds under your wings
Practice your glides, dives and spins
Lord over the air, reign as the avian king!

Endowed with an extraordinary vision
Powerful curled-beaks for breaking and tearing
To impale prey with steely talons
Divine creation, symbol of strength and courage
The spirit of an eagle teaches any man of any age

He chooses a caring spouse to live with till the end
Together build a nest safe, high up in the mountain
Feed nestlings with choicest meat meals
Till strength has grown in their new wings
He then dismantles the twig-nest,
Starves the nestlings to lose weight
Despite noisy complaints they make
He’s visionary: trains for their sake
Drops and picks up the eaglet from heights
Practice each one until its maiden flight
He gives a sharp cry as each flies away
To be free, independent, live his own days
Learns to be an air-borne warrior, making eagle-cries
Become what he was born to be: master of the skies

O God, you made me an eagle
With talents testing my mettle
To soar above the clouds of mediocrity
Into the heights of great opportunity
Make me become the best I can be
On wings of an eagle you carry me
Make me an instrument of your love
To use and share gifts sent from above
To be an example and to lead
Others onto paths of success creed
To show how much more one can be!
Always honouring and praising thee
To God alone, be the glory!

Beautiful poem elaborating how an eagle trains its eaglets to fly! Your desire to soar above mediocrity as an eagle and to lead and guide others is laudable and praise worthy! As a trainer, the example of this 'master of the skies', you must be using many a time to motivate your students! Enjoyed this poem immensely! Thank you for the kind comment made about me!
