Manic Street Preachers Poem by Paula Glynn

Manic Street Preachers

Manic Street Preachers
Starting in the year 1986
Coming from Blackwood in Wales
Their school having been
Oakdale Comprehensive School
Always good friends at
Secondary school
Needing a way out of nerdiness
Knowing music the dream
Coal mining in a small town
A life Manic Street Preachers
To happily turn down

Origin of the name
To come from an altercation
Of James Dean Bradfield
With a homeless man
Asking him
‘What are you, boyo?
Some kind of manic street preacher? '
And so history was made
And a band to later behave
With every crowd wave
As every melody plays.

The ultimate band
Manic Street Preachers
To dominate the charts
Dominate the music industry
The world of rock music
Stage performances stellar
James Dean Bradfield
With charisma and charm
Passion for music
Shown and skills
With classic and electric guitars
Why the man is a star

Nicky Wire and Sean Moore
Sean drums, percussion
Nicky Wire being
Base guitar and lyrics:
Lyrics never to be bettered
Richey Edwards sadly to be deceased
After having gone missing
And his car left behind
For everyone left sad
And wondering why
Richey - in spite of his success -
Had it so destructive and bad

Perhaps the song ‘Suicide Alley'
Echoing Richey's emotions
Because with a punk vein
No two songs are the same
Broadening to an alternative rock sound
Keeping a leftist political outlook
Lyrics and music legend:
Even worth reading their
Biographical book

Manic Street Preachers
To sell hit album
After hit album
Their music original
Their lyrics new and modern
Playing those drums
Playing the guitars
Adding violin extras
Musical instruments and scores
Perfection with melody
Perfection with symmetry

13 albums recorded
A band never to split up
From 1986 to gone 2020
James Dean Bradfield
Lead singer and ultimate rock star
His expertise with
Playing the guitar
Musical concepts
Written and performed
Making Manic Street Preachers stars

Albums in succession to be:

Generation Terrorists 1992
Gold Against The Soul 1993
The Holy Bible 1994
Everything Must Go 1996
This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours 1998
Know Your Enemy 2001
Lifeblood 2004
Send Away The Tigers 2007
Journal For Plague Lovers 2009
Postcards From A Young Man 2010
Rewind The Film 2013
Futurology 2014
Resistance Is Futile 2018
The Ultra Lament 2021

This not including greatest hits
And compilation albums
Most of these albums
To peak very high in the charts
For being an alternative rock band
Has earned them immortality
Their place in rock history
To always stand

Nicky Wire and deceased Richie
To have come up with lyrics
New to the music scene
Rock star status the ultimate dream
Where the entire band
Could only once conceive
An unattainable dream
Of major music status to be forever seen
As James Dean Bradfield does his stuff
The stage his ultimate dream

A goal to happen
A goal made reality
That the world will always see
For Manic Street Preachers
Made the world praise them
And their talent everyone to believe
New musical scores the Manic's do conceive
Their Welsh heritage with luck they do receive.
