Marilyn Poem by Juan Olivarez

Marilyn

Pretty little Norma Jeane,
Are you watching from above.
Thinking how it could have been,
Have you finally found love?

Much too soon you went away,
Your time here on Earth so brief.
Oh dark and infamous August day,
Filled with overpowering grief.

Have those who caused your swift demise,
Been punished for the crime?
They no longer tell their lies,
They have been undone by time.

There is a place where they reside,
Far from where you are today.
And though they tried so hard to hide,
Their crime, with time they all will pay.

Pretty little Norma Jeane,
Please be happy where you are.
On the late show you're now seen,
Forever young, a shining star.
