Matrimony Poem by Dr. Rani Mathew

Matrimony

Rating: 3.0

When marked man and wife
I'm lost in him, they cry.
But this invisibility, I celebrate
That kills but rejuvenates.

When as a house maker I excel
I'm confined, they state.
But this choking shelter I love
That stifles but shields.

When all that I forgo is honoured
I'm exploited, they say.
But this manipulation, I enjoy
And the bliss that ensues.

When he says ‘nay' and I comply
I'm dominated, they declare.
But this hurting grip I love
that curbs but guards.

When I bear and rear his kids
Unfairness, they shout.
But this disparity I love
that abuses but ennobles.

When I have on my finger
His name engraved in gold
Theories I FLOUT It stings but binds
And this manacle I love
