Maybe, Just Maybe Poem by Emu Getachew

Maybe, Just Maybe

Rating: 3.9

Democracy was dressed with glitter of humility
And the moon sitting on a rocking chair, comforting baby equality
People gathered to pay tribute to his tapestry of words
Standing on the platform of oneness
Amidst several interruptions… I know his legacy will live
Maybe! Just Maybe! One Day …Hope will endure the dream of my countryman…

Hi Emu (lovely name!) . This is a challenging poem. In the UK we are a Democracy but we do not always show HUMILITY which is why we call ourselves GREAT BRITAIN. Equality is another goal of Democracy but as Brother Obama is finding it is a very elusive commodity. In the UK as in the USA we are all equal but some are much more equal than others. We saw that vividly in the New Orleans Floods. 'Standing on the platform of oneness' is another 'Dream of Democracy'. Martin Luther King had a wonderful dream of ONENESS in 1963 and paid for it with his life in Memphis five years later. Africa is another subject and Mugabe gives a lie to Democratic Elections - Absolute Power currupts absolutely! If line six is a cri de coeur for Ethiopia we all pray 'That all politaical parties in Ethiopia will work together for the promotion of Democracy and a vibrant Society'. Thanks for a very thought provoking poem I have scored it ten for its content. Love in poetry - JOHN.

Short and strong.Hope is a mighty thing. South Africa had a 'Hope Joanna' song and later saw their hopes realised.10.

And how we look up to Democracy for a life of truth, justice, fairness and humanity. An adorable presentation.
