Mayberry - An Exemplary Town Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

Mayberry - An Exemplary Town

Mayberry - where people live in harmony
and often with smiles upon their faces,
where hospitality and laughter blend
more than at other distant places.

Mayberry - where there are fine institutions
and the streets are safe and wide,
a place where cleanliness is found,
and one that has great civic pride.

Mayberry - where there are many sturdy trees
providing restful and soothing shade,
a place with a friendly main street
where many genuine friendships are made.

Mayberry - where footsteps seem lighter
as they fall upon the sidewalk-
and eyes seem to appear brighter
when people have an opportunity to talk.

Mayberry - where the sun seems to shine more,
and the grass always seems to be green,
where the birds' songs are always pleasant
than anywhere it would seem.

Mayberry - where the rain feels more gentle
as it comes falling steadily down
upon the houses and sidewalks
of this exemplary and rural town.
