Melting Winter Poem by Kalee Skriver

Melting Winter

As the sun lifts its first rays to warm the planet,
it is greeted by a world frozen in time.
A mourning dove perches upon a snow-laden branch,
voicing a lonely melody without a rhyme.
Although muffled by oppressive clouds,
life beyond the poplar grove begins to stir.
A chatter from a squirrel, the rustle of a badger,
thus the new day commences with a whirl.
The fluttering of geese fills the air,
and as the sun begins to melt the ice,
all creatures of the land rejoice without a care.
For today is the start of a new beginning.
Let us all cast off our worries and focus on a life worth living.
Spring is in the air!
