Members Of Parliament Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Members Of Parliament

Politicians are squawking unruly birds
Flocking untidily upon Parliament benches
Full of self-importance, overwhelming egos
Trying to chirp loudest and heard above the uproar.
Foolish twittering cuckoos loose within the nest
Robustly making false pledges to win votes.
Elected to political power with promises never kept
Thinking themselves intellectually superior.
Effrontery of bloated pride and self-importance
Voted to speak for voters but speaking for themselves.
Pompous, squawking over-blown self-esteem
Prancing, parading, suffering politician's sickness
Egos immense, each wanting to be prime minister
One of history's great leaders who made the difference.
