Memorial Day Poem by Ima Ryma

Memorial Day

We call it Memorial Day.
Living pay tribute to the dead.
Toward the end of each month of May.
At the gravesites, as life was shed
For love of American dream,
Of all who gave for us their all,
Fighting for freedom. Fate did deem
That for their service, they would fall.
Remember them, the who and why.
Carry them all in memory.
We too may be called on to die.
I'll remember you - will you, me?

Dead, the ultimate sacrifice.
For us, they paid the highest price.
