Memories On Fade, The Bottle Keeps Leaking Poem by David Thomas

Memories On Fade, The Bottle Keeps Leaking

sometimes i forget-
why i breathe
why i live
why i need,
and why i hurt

but sometimes i remember-
why i breathed
why i lived
and why i needed,
and why i hurt

and then there's times where it's just a tad fuzzy-
what happened to us
where did my bestfriend go
what can i do,
and what of our love?

then i see these leaking dreams-
to heal the world over
to cure the sick and needy
to bring about the greatest things,
and to be loved in His acceptance

i forget why, and then i remember-
that this was your goal
this is what you'd want
this is what you did,
and this is what i couldn't give you

and then i hurt because-
this isn't where i led you
this isn't what i did
this isn't what i gave you,
and this isn't how i felt for you

then i start to cry again (because) -
i want to give you the best
i want to heal the world
i want to be a source of greatness,
i want (because i love you) to be loved by you

and then i was here-
sitting in a chair
in a quiet dim lit room
typing this poem,
eating a hot meal gone cold wishing, just wishing

that you were here.
(because i need you, no)
(because i love you, yes but no)
because you're everything, yes more but no,)
(because i want you to be, oh yes.)
