Memory Lane Poem by Jasmine Thompson

Memory Lane

I slammed the door
So mad from our fight

He's cussin' and kickin' himself
wishin' he'd stopped running his mouth

The stars twinkle
as I stroll down Main Street

Couples past so happy in love
Young ones laughing and running along

The chill of the air calms my anger
as I peer thru a window

I notice a guy on one knee
rushing back old memories

Of how in love we use to be
and of the plans we made

Wiping a tear from my eye
I opened the door and said 'I'm sorry.'
