Metamorphosis Poem by Ivana Valasik

Metamorphosis

Everyday,
bit by bit,
I morph into a more you-ified version of me.

I have always feared
losing identity
in someone else.

Not any longer.
I love the way
you changed the way
I change.

Ivana - you have a way of expressing startling insights about the nature of relationships: I learn from your poems about my own emotional being.// The final stanza is a clever, witty resolution of the conundrum of identity: that is, How much should we allow another person to change before we shout, Whoa! That's ME you're tearing apart and remaking. Instead you found a way to incorporate the changes he is making into YOUR PROCESS OF SELF-CHANGE. The conundrum is resolved, the problem solved. Now the two of you can get back to the positive work of MULTIPLYING your emotions and thereby living larger lives. EXCELSIOR!
