Midnight Sky

Each night I wake up
at midnight
to watch the world come alive,
the sky is a deeper blue
and the moon is out in its full glory,
I see the stars dancing in the sky
and hear an owl's mournful cry
in the distance,
all is peacful on these quiet night,
as the world sleeps
one lonley souls listens closely
to sounds of the night
for a moment
it's all for me to hear
until morning shall come
and the sun will soon peak
above the eastern sky
as the sky lightens
and night passes quickly by
I'll have a memory of this night
a memory of waking at midnight

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
