Misfit Destructionists Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Misfit Destructionists

Born to slaughter falsities,
Are those branded nonconformists.
Or other maverick labels given,
To have many perceive them to be...
Misfit destructionists,
Methodically tearing down...
Concepts thought sound and solid.

Although cracks gone ignored,
Viewed upon those foundations once adored...
Have become too valued to renovate,
For fear an updating will expose what is faked.
To reveal carpenter ants have eaten through,
What was believed to accept as being concrete.
Instead of plywood used.
