Misleading The Audience Poem by Vincent Cibelli

Misleading The Audience

In Hollywood, being a general term
Television, movies, news, entertainment implicitly
There is always, for us, perfection
There is no individual, and there is no character
They're embedded, they say inherent
A genealogical vanishing point
Imprinted, infinite, definite
heeds not experience, nor stimulus.
Fly on eye, pronounced rib yelling, rag boy
watch him win the girl, defies impossible,
Smooth, bad, cool, 'Oh YEAH' head-turningly suave,
Comes through in the end
Saves the village, had his epiphany
And rolling credits
No animals were harmed in the making
Reality, untelevised, ain't that pretty at all
His mother's raped his father beaten
Pleading, as a coward, for his life,
They'd say with their movie making eye.
Where's the archetypical truth then...
Where's the hero in the nick of time?
The impossible exit from certain calamity?
Where's the boys loving eyes?
And the girls witty remark....
90% of the time its sold at $19.95
Unless in a markdown bin on sale
The other ten percent is where
The hope of the romantics lay
Or is it lies?
