Missing Breakfast Poem by Randy McClave

Missing Breakfast

I woke up early one morning
I was hungry was my stomach's warning,
It was grumbling and began to growl
So, to the kitchen I went to prowl.
The kitchen was empty and also bare
Their was no food either here or their,
So, I called a female friend asking if she would like to go out to eat
And of course it would be my happy treat.
I told I'll get ready and then I'll head out in a minute or so
And then her to call me when she was ready to go,
Like I said it was early in the A.M
And I called her for a breakfast on the whim.
So, I got dressed as quickly as I could
I was ready to eat some food that's hot and good,
So, I just sat at home and I impatiently waited
Then I got more hungry and also frustrated.
I looked at my clock as the seconds then the minutes slowly ticked on by
I knew that soon from starvation I would surely die,
As I sat and I waited patiently for her to be ready
While I was fantasizing about breakfast of eggs and sausage and gravy.
Then after many paces on the floor
And me frantically waiting to walk out the door,
While waiting for my female friend to give me a call
So, we could have breakfast at a restaurant outside the mall.
My breakfast date finally contacted me to pick her up
She was finishing with her shower and her clothes and her hair and makeup,
Then I told her with a sadness she had committed an early morning crime
Because now, there is no gravy and biscuits, because now it's lunchtime.
