Mobile... Vulgus Poem by Ramona Thompson

Mobile... Vulgus

Mobile...vulgus
The fickle mob
One day they love and adore you
The next with the passion of the hottest fever they hate you
Critics one, critics all
All the world they say is a stage
And if you stumble upon it, it is sure that someone will let you know it
Rather they be friend or rather they be foe
None it would seem are immune to turning their backs
Betraying the trust of one they once held so near and dear
You may think you are safe
You may think none could ever spit upon your or your genius
But you are wrong
Dead wrong
Just look my friends at the world's many examples
Lennon and JFK both great powerful men of creative thunder
Both now laid 6 feet under
Worm food for the demons of Hell to feed upon
Only took 2 bullets it did to take them down
Buried now and long ago forgotten
All to make way for the new idols and flavors of the month
Just ask our friends here, Mobile....vulgus
The good, the bad, and all too often the ugly
Beware or soon you too be their next victim
A victim of Mobile...vulgus
The fickle mob
