Modern Condition. Poem by Tony Robinson

Modern Condition.

God you’re so boring,
Don’t you have anything to say 4 yourself?
You quote the bible as though every word is true
Like lambs to the slaughter who don’t know what to do.
You’ve got no ambition
I think it’s a condition.
Is it really just the time we live in?
Can’t you think for yourself?
Don’t you have something to say?
And I don’t mean quoting “Hello” magazine
You sit on the dole without any goals
And wonder why your soul is so empty.
Can’t you live for the day?
Go out and play or just make love in the rain
Isn’t that better than complaining?
The sun is shining, forget zoom whitening
It really is too blinding and it doesn’t last anyway
It’s the modern condition to feel this Inhibition
Why can’t we enjoy our lives?
Politically correct isn’t the best bet
It’s just another form of control.
Say what you want, get it off your chest
Isn’t that the point of u-tube anyway? ? ? ? ?
You don’t have to be mean, you don’t have to be clean
Just have a point and say something true to you
I might not agree and I might not see
But I will respect that it is your belief
Turn off the TV and read a book
Write a song with a catchy hook
Be creative is what I mean
Keep your brain fit and lean
Don’t atrophy like your old sports trophy
That was boxed up how many years ago? ? ? .
There is so much to live for
Once you get out the front door
And I don’t mean 15 pints down the boozer
It’s up to you if you want to be a looser
I’m sick and tired of all the users
Can’t you try to give something back?
Isn’t it time you had a conscience attack.
