Mole Poem by Lee Fones

Mole

today i spotted a mole
digging up a hole
so i got me rifle
then shot it some trifle
struck him a direct hit
hope he's enjoying it
as it was trifle-y nice
tomorrows desert is rice
hope he doesn't come back
if not i'll give it some flack
that mole is damn annoying
its persistence destroying
another mole hill in the lawn
tomorrow i'll shoot it early dawn

for now i'll sleep content
in my two man tent
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
then a sudden scree
scurrying underneath my bed
through my groundsheet tiny head
it was that mole, that pest
knowing i couldn't rest
so with my unarmed gun
making a dashing run
that was far too close for me
hate things like that you see
no more glam-ping, no more camping
only now will i go rambling
