Moms - A Letter From My Daughter Poem by Colette Dright

Moms - A Letter From My Daughter

This one is for the moms. The moms who put their kids before themselves, the moms who are the manager of the family, the moms who children come just to have a casual catching up conversation, or the moms their kids call first when a situation has arisen. These moms are special and deserve to be treated as such! So I am taking the time out to write this for not any mom, but the mom. My mother! She is very, very open, sociable and honest. My mom has great intentions for all situations and keeps it real. She is Godly and many have seen this just by being in her presence for even just a short time. She is so carefree and spirited that some may be taken aback when they first see this, but of course end up loving her for the amazing, fun character she is and has.

I would have to say, I have a great mom and I want her to experience a lot more than she has. Her strength is what inspires me and her confidence is something I can only imagine to some day have.
She raised my sister and brothers all on her own which shows incredible endurance and love for her kids. That's the greatest thing about my mom, she puts her kids before herself. She's selfless and rarely asks for much, for that, she deserves it all. Not only does she have a beautiful, outside appearance. She has a pure spirit filled with lots of love.

It's her birthday and all she asked for was a simple card or letter. She deserves much more even though material presents aren't everything. One day I will give her everything in return plus more because she deserves it. I've watched her work very hard to make ends meet, and succeed every time. Courageous, determined, willing, caring, passionate and creative are some of the words that can be used to describe my mom.

Did I mention she writes poetry as well? How amazing is she! Raised five wonderful kids all on her own, has twin daughters studying at two great universities, three productive adult sons and not only is she the rock of the family who everyone turns to, she also has her creative zone to write wonderful pieces of art. Tell me, if that's not a 5 star mom then I don't know what is.
My strong mother has always kept food on the table and clothes on our back. She keeps up solid and together. She brightens up rooms with her pleasant demeanor and instilled in us the importance of kindness, acceptance and keeping God in our lives. Her name is Colette Dright. Now tell me, what's your mom like?

Happy Birthday Mom! Thanks for being all that you are and more. I know I hate doing these letter type things, but I decided showing how fantastic you are would brighten up your day. I know that life can be draining and can seem very tiring, but keeping a positive mindset is the key. Love you in all ways, always! You are a great mother and my best friend! Love you lots and thank you for always keeping a strong face even when times get tough. Your whole family loves and appreciates you for the connecting being you are for us. You bring us together and this will be a great year for you!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
As my children were growing up, I told them do not buy me any cards from the store. I told them to write and create their own cards. I wanted them to express what and how they were feeling in writing. This was my opportunity to expose them to be creative in their own writing. The letters and cards my children have made me over the years are so heartfelt and overwhelming. I get so tearful and emotional reading them. I hope you are inspired by reading this and I am truly grateful and thankful for the love I have from my children, family, friends and the unknown. Thank you for allowing me to share one of many of my letters. Blessings to you all.
