Monkey Suit Poem by Cero Mercer

Monkey Suit

Rating: 5.0

Fur itching beneath this flesh coat
A subdued howl hidden in a throat
Society damning, Internet backlash
People never thinking instead acting fast
Slanderous names under generalisation
Wishing us death with infatuation

Casting stones from homes of glass
Burn us all just to erase the ash
You fear and can't comprehend
The reason i smile while wearing a frown
Watching you dance in that monkey suit acting a clown

Throw me a bone
I'll toss you a banana
These tears you see
Are from the laughs i've had
Listening to you scream
Filled with hate and making you mad
Hide behind your keyboard pretending you're bad

This flesh is temporary
What i feel is real
selling to you
We'll make no deal
Your blind eyes betray you
That's just how you feel
Open your eyes then do it once more
Give me the time, not show me the door

Behind your desk you stand tall
Drunk with power you begin to crawl
So far behind you're barely seeing
With built up walls you're rarely feeling
Drawing red to feel alive
Foot down on that lonely evening drive
Struggling just to stay afloat

Look at you now with no place to gloat
Sitting alone with stomach bloat
Stretch marks pull at every seam
Listen up this aint a dream
You could have survived
There was no need
Polluting us with your poisoned deed
Turn the mirror round and take a few
Didn't you notice your skin was itchy too
