Morning Star Poem by Lowell Martin

Morning Star

Jesus,
I awake to meet You
Under the Morning Star,
Where I wait in wonder,
As You teach me who You are.

You lift my ecstasies high,
As I anticipate things concealed,
Waiting to understand
What lays beyond my limits,
Where Your mysteries are revealed.

And then, amazed at what I see-
With newly opened mind-
Where insights reveal reality,
I sense the grand design.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When my heart surgeon released me in February,2007 from open heart surgery, he said: 'Your life has been spared for a reason, make good use of it.' A few weeks later I looked through a still dark sky to the east, and seeing a beautiful full moon over which hung the Morning Star, I sat down and wrote this poem. And then I began writing essays on the four gospels. In the four years after that brief 'epiphany, ' I had completed 1,130 essays with over a million words. Those essays have gone over much of the United States, and into several foreign countries.

Thank you for sharing this epiphany as you call it. I think moving in destiny requires the kind of revelation and relationship that you briefly capture here.
