MOTHER ALWAYS
A Poem by Paul Sebastian
Loves was always there
Ever ready to care
Love was in the air
Unconditionally love share
She was my wonder fairy
Far from being ordinary
So wise, so canny
Often she was funny
Her smile was warming
Her frowns, were warning
Her eyes, love engulfing
Her hugs were assuring
She was the morning sun
Her friendship was fun
To me she would run
If I had tripped and fallen
Made time helping me with homework
Though yawning, tired of day's work
I earned many stars in my book
Made sure, in school, proud I stood
She was quick to wipe my tears
Whilst her eyes streamed tears
Would kiss my forehead
Before she tucked me to bed
Often she would lie beside me
Sing some rhymes of nursery
Make up a bed-time story
Wake me, most tenderly
She was woman of substance in my life
Health threatened, with her love, I survived
In her hands I grew and thrived
From her I learnt to strive
She was everything
Taught me life's meaning
She was extraordinarily something
Indeed, she was God-sent angel being
She is my mother, always!
