Mother Teresa Poem by Samarendranath Mahapatra

Mother Teresa

How can we let you go, Mother!

When the earth is crying
in the eyes of the starved million,
orphan and the poor,

When hands of the helpless
raised before you
When all turmoils
decide the destiny of soil?

Oh mother, how can you go?
The music of sorrows
echoed in our broken hearts.
The dreams of Youth
collapse like a house of cards.

How can we paint colors
on the canvas of life
When you are no more?

(On the death of Mother Teresa,1997)
