Mourner's Right Poem by dandy colums

Mourner's Right

Put the sand and seal the deed
speed him through to where we'll meet
Thank you God for yet he lived;
through the days that sorrow weaved

Dead is he and gone for real
let her be 'tis not her will
Clad her not in white to mourn;
gone is he and death has won

Suffer her not to shave her hair
'tis not her deeds; in sack to wear
Loved was he by her his wife;
not such agony will bring him life

She's still tender and young at heart
grant her freedom to seek yet one
all these means but little to an effigy;
who is dead and clad alone
