Moving / Removal Poem by Gert Strydom

Moving / Removal

1
When I found myself again all my possessions are loaded off,
where your children on command carry my things into a place,
as if you turn your back on me and on our life together
where you insist that I have to start over again
as if you play poker or tarot with my future,
where you do take me completely out of your life
and you do not want to share any time or place with me,
you do determine the going of my life right there
and then darling-wife, after everything had been settled,
you want to turn our days back to where they were,
where secretly you had removed my peach-tree
as if all off my things and I do not fit into your life.
Where nobody can make words and acts undone,
sincerely you want to start with me again.

2
Then I give you another chance and we start over again,
as if people can wipe out everything just like that
and I trust and hope that everything between us is right,
believe that only a shining new future lies ahead of us
where in love I do remain enchanted with you,
I pay for a holiday, have pity for your children,
take note of their true attitude towards me
and they turn everything at Balito upside-down.
Still the impact for years do linger,
we live apart, are together on weekends and are locked-down
and the things between us do not come through an oversight,
it's as if you and your children do determine my life for me
(where together with them you do decide about our things)
do put our marriage on hold and I am not welcome at home.
