Mr Magpie
Good morning Mr magpie
how are you today
where is Mrs magpie
not coming out to play.
She's resting in the nest above
kept awake for most the night
those rowdy crows, having a go
at everything in site.
A treat I will surprise her with
a breakfast tray of all the best
of worms and grubs and beetle juice
snails I found without a house.
I'll bid farewell to you just now
my love and I will have to go
and have a word with
those pesky crows
looks like they are at it again.
I can see you! ! ! Enjoying your morning chat with the nesting magpies, your bright happy face lifted to the morning light..... That is a good way to start the day- -loving God's creation and its creatures. Love the description of the sumptuous breakfast! ! ! ! I love the gentle natural humor of this piece! Well done, Deserves 10.
i like this a lot EXCEPT i was not always sure who was the speaker from one line to another. : ( maybe if i'm lucky, someone will bring ME a tasty tray of treats? ! favorite lines: She's resting in the nest above kept awake for most the night those rowdy crows, having a go at everything in site. to MyPoemList. bri :)
very subtle commentary on a common pest. Caw! Caw! Another star performance.
Delightfully envisioned, Annette, with traces of darker undertones to carry along a slightly sinister edge contrasting with the brighter vision of birds flitting in the trees, coming down to entreat with the subject who bears treats tasty for birds, a bit disconcerting for humans. Nice interplay of contrast, my dear. An enjoyable read. :) S

I see that Stuart has good taste: I love this one too. May I make a couple of suggestions regarding format? No? OK, still a tenner to me...
