Muse, My Muse Poem by Diipo Fagbolu

Muse, My Muse

Tonight
I will be that which you need
I will fold the miles into my palms
And bend the time
I will be by your side
To tell you, your life is great
I will be your muse
Your witch, your lawyer
I will be your doctor, your vampire
I will lay my shoulder by you
Come, lay your head on mine
You can sleep, or just lay
Be still, stay for tonight is given
Even if tomorrow is not promised
Smell my hair without despair
We are only two hearts beating in harmony
Making silent music eternally
Just us, you, I and our hearts singing
Singing songs not forgotten or remembered
Knowing that as these two hearts beat
They beat for each other alone
Even if no one hears.
