Mutual Lack Of Action Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Mutual Lack Of Action

Rating: 5.0

A message repeatedly meant.
And intended sent.
To give undivided attention,
To its contents.
Gone repeatedly,
Time and again to go ignored.
Has consequences to pay.
For anyone who has a mind,
Closed to lock like a door.

Consequences,
Too late to lament.
Too late to care,
For an empathy to give.
Or pretend still there.
When none is felt to come,
From the one who once...
Showed too much too often,
A caring there to give.
Unsolicited.
But now too aware to realize,
Being taken for granted...
Had not been prioritized,
On their list of wishes.

Now...
With no expression of regret.
Or disappointments to confess.
To go on about their business.
Returning,
A mutual lack of concern.
And in an action to prove,
Evidence to validate it...
Is unnecessary or required.

'I can understand,
Why you may be upset.
I'm sorry. I apologize.
I was made to be allowed,
To believe things...
That were just not true! '

-Uh...huh?
You were made to be allowed,
To...
What? -
