My Ancestor’s Home Poem by Marilyn Lott

My Ancestor’s Home

I took a trip across the ocean
To visit an old ancestral home
It’s fun go to places
Where family grew and roamed

Sheep shearing so fascinating
Was one of the things that I saw
Wet landscape after a rainstorm
Was truly a beautiful draw

It was quite an interesting operation
To see the gobs of fluffy wool fall
Ready to create the clothing
A process we don’t think of at all

The beautiful rustic rock walls
Lined up along the roads
Ah yes, I can imagine my family
In their ancient lovely abode

I hope you too can travel
To where your family originally came
For it’s an experience so worthwhile
You’ll never be the same again!
