My Books Poem by Sharad Rajimwale

My Books

One by one the books left my library
leaping over hedges and making way
through shrubberies
swimming across water
scurrying and scampering into jungles and meadows
leaving me amazed!

What shall I do now?
I reached out and scrambled after them
shouting and yelling at them to stop
and saw them dissolve into the red and yellow
of beautiful roses;
melt into the azure of the liquid sky
and rippling blue of the lake.

Some I saw turn into the frail smile of the crescent moon,
some winked at me as so many stars,
some turned their pages into the evening breezes
and some awakened the heady fragrance
that dwells in nature's mysterious tresses.

I looked wonder-struck
as the nature's beaming face became one vast book.
