My Children In Africa Poem by Rik Bertrand

My Children In Africa

I have witnessed what should not be
I have cried for dead and gone.
My tears have all but dried up,
But I will do what no others done.

The children of Africa are many.
And they are all well worth saving
So I will hold out my helping hand
And pray for worldwide braving.

I do my best to help the children,
I sew dresses, and ship them away.
I hope to clothe the little ones,
That have never seen clothes to this day.

I am but a single person,
Caring for gods lost children
Hoping for a better world,
Where we can all be human.

I love you little children
I dream of you every night
And if I could be there loving you
I would be on the first flight.

All though I am old frail,
And into my later years,
I work my little heart out,
To stay off all the tears.

I love the children of Africa,
I am worried for their plight.
They have so little in their life
And their future is a fight.

To see their smiling faces,
As they receive their little dresses.
To see the glow in their eyes,
It's better than their caresses.
