We almost lost you that day
The river swept you away.
But I saw and heard you shout
and dived in to pull you out.
'My Daddy saved me, ' you said
as I tucked you into bed.
My tears came pouring down
and praised God you did not drown.
The tears flowed unceasingly
as I hugged you close to me.
'Thank You so much, Lord' I cried
'for my daughter could have died.'
How dreadful my life would be
if you'd been taken from me.
But praise God I that can say
He let me keep you that day.
Now many years have flown by
and I look at you and sigh.
For God allowed me to see
The woman you were to be.
