My Final Choice Poem by Edwina Reizer

My Final Choice

Shall I leave this life by day
or shall I leave by night?
If I could choose it would be the latter
with the stars being my last sight.

For the darkness would envelop me
and welcome me my home.
Its message as I was leaving
'Now tis time to roam.'

Likened to the darkened womb
from which I did descend
would awaken in my memory
how life begins and ends.

No need for earthly bearings,
my soul would ease my way.
I'd say goodbye to all the beauty
and with no further delay

I'd search wherever it is I'd gone
until I found you dear.
And had I left before you
I'd wait for you to appear.
