My First Love Poem by Juan Olivarez

My First Love

Rating: 5.0

I still remember my first love,
And how my stomach turned.
She was a s pretty as a white winged dove,
And my pleading eyes she spurned.

I was in love and so was she,
But with somebody else.
But being so young I could not see,
All I could hear were bells.

I hung around her like a lovesick pup,
But I couldn't say a word.
I brought her flowers, candy, and pop.
But she was always bored.

One day I saw her walking home,
Happy as a girl could be.
And my throat let go a painful groan,
Cause she was with him and not with me.

You always remember your first love,
One sided though it may have been.
And your eyes roll to the skies above,
As you contemplate back when.

Ahhh, those first love years, a peom that we all can relate to. Yes most of us did not end up with the girl you describe here. Thanks for taking me down memory lane and bringing back some of the love pains of youth. A very good write.
