My Friend Poem by Dennis Fenton

My Friend

Through the darkness of the night
With only the radio to keep me upright
I have a thought of you with that radiant smile
With that I am good for another lonely mile
Delivering newspapers to a sleeping town
Wishing we were together so I would not feel so down

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I met a new friend who has helped me put to rest painful memories of years gone past. In my 56 years I have never been motivated to write a poem, but she has turned into a major inspiration in my life.
