My Friends Poem by Randy McClave

My Friends

When I had a pickup truck
I had friends galore,
I carried furniture, and appliances and even a buck
Happily to my friends front door.
I was always wanted by the highest demand,
Happily I always gave a helping hand.

When my in-ground pool was opened
Friends came and visited all of the time,
They would come and visit without one word spoken
Refusing them always felt like a crime.
Then they would end up partying in my game room,
My house was there's they did assume.

When it was summer and my boat was on the river
Everyone wanted to go for a ride,
I bought the fuel and with the food I was a giver
Many true friends I always had at my side.
Everyone enjoyed the many adventures on my boat,
When up and down the river we did eat and float.

One year my truck I finally sold
I decided to get a smaller and a more gas efficient vehicle,
Then came wintertime and I closed my pool
And my boat I winterized and covered before the first icicle.
And then when I finished with those odds and ends,
Now I look, and I have no more friends.
