My Journey Poem by Andrea Valles Mata

My Journey

Stop being a doormat, stop dragging your feet,
You are my sister, dont make me repeat,
The things that you've been through, that made you feel small.
I will be with you, I wont let you fall.

But I cannot do it, I'm not that smart,
I cannot do it, what I lack is heart,
My courage falters, my resolve is weak,
But yet my purpose I have to seek.

You've come this far, my teacher said,
A little more of the way he led,
And one more tiny step I take,
Before my strength could once more break.

Enough, no more, I've reached the end,
'Wait, a little more, ' said my friend,
I stretch and struggle, my muscles strain,
This mission cannot end in vain.

Out in the distance, far, far away,
I see my goal, my role to play,
But at what cost? is the prize worthwhile?
I ask myself as I cross the last mile.

Yes, My good and faithful child,
My Lord and Savior replied and smiled.
It was never the end, the reward you see,
It was the journey that brought you to me.

Dedicated to the people who have brought me so far.
