My Knight Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

My Knight

The dead, flat, barren, land,
Provided no shelter, no place to hide.
She was cold, alone, scared,
And did not know which way to turn.

Then into her life, comes a strong, stable light.
One that is caring and loving and when near,
Her life seemed… almost, alright.

But she was afraid, because, she had felt this way before,
And look what happened then.
The bruises that he left on her, were not seen.
The scars left behind, were invisible,
But they were there just the same.

She wanted to trust, she tried really hard,
But at the oddest moments, she would regress and hide.
After a period of time, she would venture out her hand,
And there he was to try again.

After three or four tries they are now doing well,
And she is learning to stand strong, take up for herself.
Her knight in shining armor, is so far proving true,
And every day, she is proving she is true to him too.

And when the day comes, they become man and wife,
Will be the most glorious day in her earthly life.
