My Little One Poem by Carole Davis

My Little One

Rating: 5.0

Rain falling from the darkened sky
Sadness when I ponder why
The hospital was so cold and blue,
My little one how I tried to save you.

I remember the frantic calls of the nurses,
The doctors screaming orders and verses,
Everyone working to pull me through
Oh little one how I tried to save you.

I remember your heart beating so weak,
The doctors prognosis came back so bleak
Your life was so precious and true,
Oh little one how I tried to save you.

In the hospital alone I thought about why
I guess your little soul was meant to fly,
If your father had cared would you have pulled through
Oh little one how I tried to save you.

Watching the rain healing from that day,
When I wonder if there had been a different way
I know that there was no more I could do,
My little one I did try to save you.

A beautiful, heart rending poem. I like the rhyme scheme and the stanza ending refrain. Warm regards Ron

The rain set the mood for this poem and it captured me right away. A well constructed poem as well. The feelings are easily transferred by your repeated line. Just a wonderful display of poetry. GW62

In the sixth line, I think you meant 'verses' instead of versus. A most poignant write Carole. So very sad. Write On! ! !
