My Love Went Home Poem by david mcminn

My Love Went Home

How many people have I met? So many have past my way.
Yet so lonely, on this path I made. My spirit drifts.
It will not stay. I long for home. I lost the way.
My path seems endless, no place to stay.
I look for rest, to find my way. No closer to the home,
I dream each day. I have traveled far in search of love.
To replace the one that went home above.
Was it the reason I left my home, so tired now,
I remember not. It was her love that held me in one spot.
In her soft arms of caring, adventure was not a thought.
Now I walk upon this path, empty and alone.
Until then, only will I roam. When I see my love one, I know that I am home.
