My Moon Poem by David Orioli

My Moon

You've controlled the tides of love

Stretching them from up above

Though blinded by the hazy skies

I can see through your selfish lies

Those craters in your eyes

Where love hides then dies

So you send the shore to kiss me

For a moment then in haste flee

I wonder why so briefly?

You never cared so deeply

You bruised my heart too soon

My beloved little moon

How can I have thee back

When true love is what you lack?
