My Own Worst Enemy Poem by Paula Glynn

My Own Worst Enemy

The only one I can blame,
Is myself,
I have tortured and abused,
My own self,
I have neglected my life,
And broken my own heart,
I have deserted my needs,
Desires and wants,
I have shown the world,
I think negatively,
I have been down and out,
On myself,
No one else has to pay:
For I have been a fool,
Used as a joke,
Used for amusement,
Until I learn,
To care for myself,
The world will stay the same,
With the same pain,
That drives me insane,
So I shall learn to feel good,
Starting today,
I shall accept compliments,
And give a genuine smile,
For I am realising,
I am a beautiful soul,
Who has learnt their lesson,
And gained control.
