My Prayer. Poem by winifred thorpe

My Prayer.

I kneel me down to pray and think about today,
Did I do the things that are right and did I say my prayers last night.

Was my laughter much to loud and was I standing much too proud,
Did I smile as I should and did I help someone I could? .

When I think about tomorrow will I help someone in sorrow? ,
Can you help me, show I care? will you help me know, You are there.

I must close my eyes so tight to all those ill, I pray with all my might,
O God I want to be so good and love you as I know I should.

Please, give me strength to do things right and let me think of, you to night,
When I'm asleep please let me dream of sun, and sand, and a gentle stream.

W'here love will flow out to sea,
O, God, look after me.

I'm not normally a fan of religious poetry but this is a lovely read. Well done!
