My Rock Poem by Kinah Aziz

My Rock

Searching for days, fingers running through grains of sand.
Desperate for water in this desert land.
And a bubbling oasis appeared to me.
Is it a mirage?
No, I don't think so.
Something tells me 'It's real you know.'
Hands reaching into this oasis of cool water.
Cupping my hands and bringing this quencher of thirst to my lips.
Crystal clear on my lips a gentle mercy to my being.
Calm and still and a sight to be seen.
Falling to the soft grass and looking up at the sky.
Sensing and seeing beauty nearby.
Hair dancing freely in the gentle wind.
Multiple Strands of brown, black and red.
Wisps passing my eyes and covering my brow.
Flying unbound in all directions about my head.
Feeling the winds gentle caress in its blow.
Setting a light to my eyes almost a fire aglow.
Silver moons and brilliant stars.
Pure white light of night hiding the rose in my cheeks.
Oh, if only I could lay about here for countless hours, days, even weeks.
Butterflies and birds have no idea nor thought of clue.
Of the kind of flying that I have felt, its true.
The melodious song of the birds.
The sound of your voice that sets astir the singing of my heart.
Which made me stutter from the start.
Now you know why I shiver when I speak to you.
Why I am so afraid to hear you speak.
Because your words make me weak.
Standing in a swirling snow storm of brilliant white.
Nearly blinded by reality's light.
Colors that fade and those that stay.
Seasons of change and things that go away.
But the steady rock that is firm in its stead.
Unchanging, unwavering in its devotion.
Setting my heart whirring with strong emotion.
Of this little do you know.
How hard it is for me ever to say to you no.
Though storms and wind tried to pry it loose.
Here it remains.
Impossible to deny its love.
No matter what happens that rock will not be left alone.
Never to be uprooted from what it loves.
